Not sure if you can drive your car after getting your windshield replaced? Don’t worry, you are not the only one with this question. We get questions of all kinds from our customers, so we are here to provide a list of Do’s and Don’ts after getting your windshield replaced at Xtreme Auto Glass.
DO’s:
– You can drive your car immediately after we are finished replacing your windshield. We prioritize minimizing our customer down time, and our urethane cures and is safe for driving by the time we complete the job
– Often times, there will be two pieces of tape at the top of your windshield where it meets the roof of the car. DO keep those pieces of tape on for at least the rest of the day after the windshield replacement. They help to prevent the windshield from sliding down as it is a heavy piece of glass.
DON’TS:
– Perhaps the most important rule after replacing your windshield, DO NOT go through a car wash for at least 3 days. The pressure washers that are used at car washes can poke holes into the urethane as it dries, which will cause the windshield to leak if it rains. We are not responsible for replacing the windshield if this rule is not followed.
– Try not to push on the glass after it is replaced. Although the urethane cures and is safe for driving after we are done, it does take 2 to 3 days for the urethane to completely cure and dry. pushing on the glass may cause the windshield to shift and could lead to problems.
– Avoid using old, damaged wiper blades on your new windshield. Using a wiper blade that is falling off or bent could scratch the glass. We proudly offer wiper blades for sale at the time of your replacement, and our technicians will install them at no additional cost.
