Certain vehicles have a camera system that is mounted behind the rearview mirror that is pointed towards the road in front of you. This camera system can have several different safety features that are important for us to know when replacing your windshield.
Not all windshields are the same. Therefore, knowing whether there is a camera system in your vehicle and which features are included within that system will allow us to verify we can get the correct windshield for your car. Often times, there are multiple windshields made for the same vehicle, and it depends on which features are present to determine the correct windshield.
Common camera system features include the following:
Lane Departure Warning System – Detects when your vehicle stars to veer out of the lane without using your directional. Often, your vehicle will beep and display a message letting you know.
Lane Keep Assist – Working in conjunction with the Lane Departure Warning System, Lane Keep Assist will slight correct your path when you are veering out of the lane
Pre-Collision Warning – If you approach something in front of you too quickly, the camera system detects this and will display warning messages and sounds to prompt you to brake.
Knowing which features your vehicle has is necessary to ensure the correct windshield is put in. When you call, the most fool proof way to find out these features is to have your full 17 digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) available, as our system will allow us to search your VIN and see which features are present.
